Xtra Medium is back again!!!
We are playing this Friday, Jan 2nd at Smiths Olde Bar in Atlanta. There are 2 opening bands, so we will probably start around 10-10:30. All proceeds from the shows go to Habitat for Humanity.
Come out, see a moderately decent band, and benefit a great charity. Hope to see you there (Those of you who are not about to drop babies any day now.)
Once again, Xtra Medium has risen from the undead. We have two shows lined up. One at Uptown Lodge (formerly English) in Alpharetta this Friday, December 5th. The other at Smiths Olde Bar in Atlanta on Friday, Jan. 2nd. Everyone come out and see if this truely is XM’s last two shows. You never know anymore.
Here are the top nine comments made by NBC sports commentators at the Summer Olympics that they would like to take back:
1. Weightlifting commentator: “This is Gregoriava from Bulgaria. I saw her snatch this morning during her warm up and it was amazing.”
2. Dressage commentator: “This is really a lovely horse and I speak from personal experience since I once mounted her mother.”
3. Paul Hamm, Gymnast: “I owe a lot to my parents, especially my mother and father.”
4. Boxing Analyst: “Sure there have been injuries, and even some deaths in boxing, but none of them really that serious.”
5. Softball announcer: “If history repeats itself, I should think we can expect the same thing again.”
6. Basketball analyst: “He dribbles a lot and the opposition doesn’t like it. In fact you can see it all over their faces.”
7. At the rowing medal ceremony: “Ah, isn’t that nice, the wife of the IOC president is hugging the cox of the British crew.”
8. Soccer commentator: “Julian Dicks is everywhere. It’s like they’ve got eleven Dicks on the field.”
9. Tennis commentator: “One of the reasons Andy is playing so well is that, before the final round, his wife takes out his balls and kisses them… Oh my God, what have I just said?”
Tomorrow is the big day! Our Doctor has decided that Ella is too big for her Mamas britches, so they are giving her the eviction notice. Tonight Karley and I will check in at Northside and they will start her on a medicine to get her body ready. Then, tomorrow morning, they will give her Pitocin, a medicine to induce labor. By tomorrow night you can call me Big Poppa. Kind of crazy! Anyway, if you want you can check out a blog that Karley set up for Ella’s arrival. www.skipperandkarleybrown.blogspot.com
I will keep everyone posted about the delivery and Ella Grace’s arrival. Wish us luck!
Yes, I have to do it. A shameless plug for the show this weekend. Please dont forget about Xtra Medium at Smiths Olde Bar this weekend. The opening band is at 9 and we go on at 10. This is the last show for a long time, if not ever (the drummer knocked up some chick). It ought to be a really good show. For tix online or to check out our song list, etc… go to www.xtramediumband.com. See you Saturday!
Xtra Medium will be playing at Smiths Olde Bar on Saturday, June 7th. This will be our last show for a long while, quite possibly ever. We cant call it our final show, because we played our final show two years ago, but The Eagles have been doing it for 10 years now. Any way, I would love it if we could sell this thing out. Please tell your friends, neighbors, and enemys about the show. You can get tickets online at www.xtramediumband.com
I had a request to post a quick note about the Xtra Medium show at Smiths Olde Bar. We are playing on Wednesday, March 12. The show will be from 8-Midnight. All the proceeds from the show go to Habitat for Humanity. Since this is our first show back, and it is a benefit, we are expecting this thing to sell out (capacity is 300). If you want to buy a ticket and come, or buy a ticket just to help out Habitat, please let me know or click on the link below.
Thanks again for the support. This promises to be a great show, with loads of new songs.
Well even though my boys can swim, it seems that they wear bikinis while doing so. Thats right, Karley and I are having a girl. We found out last night, and I had lost the rest of my hair by this morning. Obviously we are really excited, and lets face it girls are much cuter and easier babies, but it still scares the shit out of me that one day I will have to pay for a wedding. And a car, and barbies, and ballet lessons, and a body guard, and a pony, and a shotgun.
The good new is, boys are harder to deal with as babies. They are much more tempermental, and they tend to piss in your face when changing a diaper.
On a side note, the date of the Xtra Medium Comeback/Habitat for Humanity show has been changed. We will now be at Smiths Olde Bar on March 12. Tickets will be available on their website, and soon at our website. www.xtramediumband.com.
Hope everyone has a good weekend!
For those of you who do not know, Xtra Medium is my band. We play cover music from the 1960’s-Today, with a long stop in the 90’s. After a year and a half long hiatus, we have returned for our mid-life crisis. We have changed the line-up a little and added new songs. I think the end product is better than we have ever sounded, but who am I to judge.
Anyway… we are playing at Smiths Olde Bar in Atlanta on Sunday, March 2 from 8-11. I know that it is a Sunday night, but there are several reasons to come:
1. It is a benefit for Habitat for Humanity. All proceeds go to a good cause.
2. It is our first show back, so it is bound to be fun.
3. Lets face it, we are getting older and probably wont be able to do this much longer. This is not only our first show back, but also one of our last shows ever.
Please come, and bring some friends. Hope to see you there.
Finally there is something to be glad about. No more 99x, no worries. In the past 3 months all types of crazy things have been happening on the radio waves. We have said goodbye to the Morning X and had to listen to the Bert Show. Even mildly entertaining Steve and Vikki left Star 94. Finally, though, there is good news. The Regular Guys are back on the air. Complete with South-Side Steve and all the interns, one Atlanta radio station is doing something right. Rock 100.5 (formerly Q100, which has taken over 99.7) has now hired the morning DJ’s. Finally a reason to turn off my iPod.
George Phillips of Meridian, Mississippi was going up to bed
when his wife told him that he’d left the light on in the garden shed,
which she could see from the bedroom window.
George opened the back door to go turn off the light but saw
that there were people in the shed stealing things.
He phoned the police, who asked ‘Is someone in your house?’ and
he said ‘no’. Then they said that all patrols were busy, and that he
should simply lock his door and an officer would be along when
available. George said, ‘Okay,’ hung up, counted to 30, and phoned
the police again.
‘Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were
people stealing things from my shed Well, you don’t have to worry about
them now because I’ve just shot them.’ Then he hung up.
Within five minutes three police cars, an Armed Response Unit,
and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips’ residence and caught the
One of the Policemen said to George: ‘I thought you said that you’d shot them!’
George said, ‘I thought you said there was nobody available!’
