Afterlife Zombies

Will We Ever See Real Zombies?

While many of us will unlikely ever see a real zombie in our regular lives, we can continue to enjoy them in our favorite shows and movies like The Walking Dead and Dawn of the Dead. However, the possibility to see real zombies might be around the corner during the Afterlife.

Anything is Possible During the Afterlife

Nobody knows what the Afterlife is like, leaving our imaginations to create a new world. Like our imagination, anything is possible in this world. We could all be in a galaxy far far away with lightsabers, or facing hordes of the undead.

The new novel Battle for the Afterlife Saga, Blue Courage by CJ Davis explores these possibilites. In his book, which I have read an advanced copy of, there are zombies called Lost Souls. They are every bit as terrifying as the zombies in today’s pop culture.

The basic principle around the flesh eating ghouls, is that they are people in the Afterlife, that lost their motivation to grow their souls. Overtime people that do not pursue personal growth through hobbies, interests, work and other passions eventually become Lost Souls. Eternity is a long time, after all. Boredom can drive a person insane!

His book is very good, and I highly recommend it. It’s filled with characters I cared about, and also had plenty of action and adventure.

CJ Davis’s novel is coming out in the fall 2013.

The CDC got people’s attention Wednesday when it posted “Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse” online. “If zombies did start roaming the streets, CDC would conduct an investigation much like any other disease outbreak. CDC would provide technical assistance to cities, states, or international partners dealing with a zombie infestation.” The blog post was a gag meant to highlight the center’s actual emergency plans, for things like hurricane; it was, nevertheless, a huge hit, with both the original blog post and the cached version crashing due to traffic.

The lastest from Smashing Pumpkins, Owatta, is a fun summer song. There are no epic guitar leads or pounding rock drums. It is a pleasent positive pop song with good lyrics. It is definetely more Zwan than Smashing Pumpkins, which is not a bad thing for me. At this point I think it is safe to say that TBK will be defined by strong synthesizers, much like Machina for many was defined by over-produced mixes (guitars/drums/vocals). I personally liked the Cris Isaaks Show version of this song the best. There was a horn section and it did not have any synthesizers.

The song is pretty good after a few listens. I really like Nicole’s back-up vocals. It is much better than BC doing them. I would say it falls somewhere in the middle of the pack out of the released TBK material thus far. Tom, Tom remains the best song in my book. It will be interesting to see if any of the new songs will knock it out of my top spot.
