I finally broke down, and picked up More Brains: A Return to the Living Dead.  As the definitive documentary for the Return of the Living Dead franchise, I was eagerly awaiting its’ arrival.  Because I was one of a handful of people who bought it on their website by a certain date, they actually sent me a small poster tucked in the sleeve – which I thought was kind of cool.

The DVD documentary itself was around 2 hours (i think 120 min on the dot)….. However, there is actually another 2 full hours of bonus materials (which I’ll get into shortly).

The feature documentary focuses soley on Return of the Living Dead (part 1).  As a huge fan of the original move, it was really cool to see the full cast come back and talk about how they got involved, and their experiences during the shooting of the film.  The documentary also goes into the relationship and lawsuit that came out of Night of the Living Dead and George Romero.

One of the nice surprises of the DVD was “Skuz” narrating it.  For those who don’t know, the character Skuz, played by Brian Peck, was the only person who was involved in some way, shape or form in each movie in the series.  His narration was fun, and it’s clear that he really loved his experiences with the franchise.

For those who love Return of the Living Dead, you’re sure to love the documentary.  I tried to get one of my friends to watch it with me, who had never seen Return of the Living Dead, and he told me that it was kind of boring for him.

The special features have all kinds of stuff, including mini-documetaries for the sequels to the movies. The one about Return of the Living Dead 2 was especially interesting, revealing that many of the returning cast members were just doing so that they could work together again (instead of being fully behind the movie, script or director).

All in all, I loved the DVD.  I would highly recommend for the ROTLD fan!
