One of the most anticipated movies of the decade comes out in a few weeks. I am looking forward to it. How could I not? James Cameron has not let me down before and this movie seems like he has not cut any corners. However, I can’t help but think how they can seriously think they have integrated an alien species that does NOT look like a cartoon into this movie. At first, when I saw the stills and trailers I thought maybe I need to look a little closer to notice the “realness” of these aliens. Now that I have seen the trailer a few times, they still look like cartoons to me. Don’t get me wrong, I liked Roger Rabbit and the Star Wars prequals, where they had cartoon looking characters. Hopefully, the cartoon aliens in Avatar will not affect the movie experience. I am just sick of hearing about how they are suppose to be so real. “Don’t piss on me… and tell me its raining.”

Giving Thanks

While on Facebook just now, I noticed that over the past few hours, like a quickly spreading zombie virus, everyone decided to give thanks for what they appreciate in life.  Some people gave thanks for their children, friends, pets etc.  Some people gave thanks for TV, movies etc.

It was really funny actually.  One person did it, then everybody quickly added on.

Well I too, would like to give thanks – on behalf of ZombieChatter.com….

  • First, I’d like to give thanks for George Romero – and the Slow Zombie.
  • I’d then like to thank all the rip-off’s of his movies – you all keep me interested….no matter how bad your movies are.
  • Now I’d like to thank the Internet.  Without you, there would not be a blog for us to waste massive amounts of time on.
  • Next I’d like to give thanks for our visitors….and the massive amounts of time you spend reading our silly little blog.
  • Furthermore, I’d like to give thanks for Jordana Brewster and the Movie D.E.B.S. – without this combination, I never would have seen your lesbian side.

I hope you take a moment to give thanks this holiday season.

Happy Thanksgiving, and enjoy the holiday.

Every part of a zombie is cut off at one point during this masterpiece. Romero would be proud. This is not your parent’s Gumby clay-mation. Dude

*Warning, extreme gore*

I could just imagine trying to explain this happening to a friend who just had his drink stolen by a vervet monkey when he walked away for a moment.

“Dude, seriously that monkey drank your drink. I did not touch it.”

*Warning* Drunk monkeys are in this video.

I was reading through this book, Zombies: Encounters with the Hungry Dead, the other night, and I realized there are so many cool places you can go with the Zombie theme.  This particular book is an anthology of stories about Zombies.  It has stories written by some of the greats like Max Brooks, Ray Bradbury and Stephen King, however some of the best shorts come from some of the less known authors.  However, this is besides the point.

This book captures stories from the Vudu zombie, people coming back to life (not interested in brains), and of course your traditional Romero-Zombies who are hungry for brains.

They all have their place in the Zombie lore, and this book pulls them together nicely.

If you get a chance to pick it up, be sure to check out the short story “Great Wall: A story from the Zombie War”.  It’s actually a “deleted scene” if you will, from World War Z. Guess it didn’t make the final cut.  It’s pretty cool all the same.

A while back, this site reported news about a Norwegian-made zombie movie called Dead Snow.  I noticed that it’s finally on DVD at Blockbuster the other day.   I’m pretty stoked about this surprise Sundance hit!

In case you don’t know anything about it, check out the trailer and the synopsis below.

Dead Snow Plot:

Eight medical students on a ski trip to Norway discover that Hitler’s horrors live on when they come face to face with a battalion of undead Nazi soldiers intent on devouring anyone unfortunate enough to wander into the remote mountains where they were once sent to die.

If you haven’t seen the Dead Snow trailer, you can catch it below:

Qualified as: Asia Group B runner-up

Second World Cup appearance (last in 1966)

Player to watch: Ahn Young-Hak

Odds to win: 500 to 1

I thought this was noteworthy. A country that most consider evil will be in the World Cup. The last time they were in the cup was 1966, so it has been quite a long time since they have made it. Hopefully, USA will have a chance to beat that ass – even though it will be very unlikely that they play. With the secrecy, the nuclear weapons and crazy dictator there is not a lot to like about North Korea. I have always loved the fact that sports transcends political boundaries. So I am glad to see them in the Cup. I remember reading a quote at one point by the Greeks that basically said that the spirit of competition is the most powerful element in the human spirit. Btw… USA had 80 to 1 odds and this fell in around the middle of the pack of the 32 teams. GO USA!
