I give you the first GI Joe Power Suit from 1983.
S.N.A.K.E. (System: Neutralizer-Armored Kloaking Equipment)
Designed by Destro and his scientist at MARS (Military Armament Research System). It protects COBRA soldiers from GI Joe because its heavy armor plating repels bullets and explosive blasts. When captured GI Joes are placed inside S.N.A.K.E. Its powerful sensors easily brainwash them into thinking and acting like COBRAs!

good call hanzo I forgot all about that! It seemed Cobra was much more likely to use far out stuff (in the early going of Gi Joe) then the good guys were. They did have the B.A.T.S too.
It was cool though because the Joes were regular guys who outsmarted the enemy and still overecame everything the bad guys threw at them.

I agree that COBRA mostly had the outrageous vehicles and weapons, but the Joes also had some pretty cool stuff. Specifically, I would like to point out the H.A.V.O.C. This tank like vehicle had a one-manned hover craft in the back and it packed some serious fire power. The drive, Cross-Country, was a mad-man behind the wheel (wich he had to lay down to drive). I was fortunate enough to have 2 of these bad boys in my vehicle fleet as a kid.
