Top Best Friends of All Time
Best friends in stories often play the most pivotal roles. Unfortunately, they are often the unsung heroes, so today I wanted to take the time to recognize these individuals that have single handedly held together some of the greatest books, movies and T.V. shows. of all time.
5. Watson & Holmes (Sherlock Holmes Series)- I mean come on… where would Holmes be with out Watson. How many mysteries would not have been solved? How many times would Holmes not made it out of a situation alive? nuf’ said
4. Indiana Jones & Short Round (Temple of Doom) – Who could forget ever forget the famous line… “Hang on lady, we going for a ride?” Short Round is awesome in Temple of Doom. He is funny, a bad ass and ultimately saves the day when he snaps Indiana out of his evil trance with a torch. I always have to fight a tear off in this scene when Short Round says, “Indie your my best friend.”
3. Chuck & Morgan (T.V. Show Chuck) – Morgan is Chuck’s rock. He is not the smartest or the best looking or the toughest guy, but he has heart. He is the perfect genuine loyal friend for Chuck in a world of deceit, spies and guns. My favorite Morgan moment is when he accidentally turns in his boss/Mom’s boyfriend to a bad situation and one of the funniest Godfather omage ensues… good stuff.
2. Old Yeller and Friend (Old Yeller)- They don’t call em’ man’s best friend for nothing. I had to include a dog in this list and what better dog than the original classic. Old Yeller was every boy’s dream dog growing up. He saves you from danger, he’s fun and always has the “crazy happy” love for his owner.
1. Sam and Frodo (Lord of the Rings) – Well being one of the greatest epics of all time I had to save the best for last. No character in the history of stories got crapped on as much by a friend that Sam. You have to give Frodo a break due to the whole evil ring deal, but still Sam put up with a lot. Sam is the #1 best friend due to this and the fact that he carried the fate of the world on his shoulders, literally, to save the day (which is the most memorable part of the series for me). Sam also gets extra credit for being a little guy.

Good list, definitely agree with #1, but what about Han and Chewy or R2-D2 and C3-PO, or Sloth and Chunk…

Wonderful list. I like the additions that Mindbomb made too. R2-D2 and C3PO didn’t like each other very much on the outside….but they never seemed to leave each others side. Sounds like marriage…. Just kidding wife
