Rorschach to Play New Freddy Krueger
What does the Watchmen (movie) and the upcoming remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street have in common? Jackie Earle Haley. The red headed psychopath who plays Rorschach in Watchmen will replace Robert Englund’s long-time role as Freddy Kreuger.
This Nightmare on Elm Street reboot follows the re-imagining of the horror icon Freddy Krueger, a serial-killer who wields a glove with four blades embedded in the fingers and kills people in their dreams, resulting in their real death in reality.
What does that translate into? This is basically a strait remake…with some modern updates. One can only hope that it kicks the crap out of so called re-boot of Friday the 13th.
The good news is that Jackie Earle Haley is actually an Oscar nominee, and if you ask me, he did a pretty great job in Watchmen. In fact, I would argue that Rorschach actually makes the movie. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
Elm Street began shooting on May 5th in Chicago for an April 16th 2010 release.

I was a fan of the first 3 Nightmares, but after that, they lost me…however I do think that Jackie Earle Haley’s portrayal of Freddy might surpass Robert Englund’s version.

I thought JEH was very good in Watchmen, they had to have someone good play that role he is too pivotal to the story.
I’m not a big NoE fan, but I could totally see JEH pulling this off.
to be honest though i was hoping the watchmen might push his career in a better direction then this, but i’m sure he’ll rake in some cash for the role.

He did do an awesome job in Watchmen. In fact, if it was not for his character and performance I would have gone to the box office manager demanding my money back.

I’m wondering when the reboot era will end. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the original NoE (and like Mindbomb I think they lost me after the 3rd…similar to the Friday the 13th series) and will look forward to catching this on HBO in late 2010, early 2011, but I can’t believe that they’re remaking so many movies instead of trying something new.
The way it’s going, by the time Scruffpup hits high school she’ll be excited about the Hannah Montana reboot.

Yeah, I hate the re-boot era as well. I was much more excited about movies like this before the last Friday the 13th one that came out. It was just so friggin’ bad. I’m afraid that they will repeat falure with this one.
I guess that in some circumstances I don’t mind when the continue a story…but strait remakes on classics doesn’t tend to win me over.
Sadly, it wins the box office over though…which is why they keep pushing out this CRAP.
