I loved the prequals. Episode III stands side by side with the originals and I even like the cartoon spin-offs, a lot.

This medium offers something that the movies could not… a chance to have an extended story line with a ton of character development (i.e. Lost). If this is done right this could be the GREATEST tv show of all time.

However, in contrast to what Hollywood is doing with the rest of the popular movies from the 80's (I know star wars was technically in in the 70's), I'm pretty happy with this approach. The way I look at it, Hollywood is remaking all of my favorite movies. Instead of doing that, Lucas has decided to extend the story through all of these different mediums. This decade, he made three more movies (maybe not all perfect, but still good), two animated series and now he's moving on to another part of the story through TV. The Star Wars universe has a ton to offer. Just look to all of the books that have been written....most of them pretty darn good.
