Obama’s Here-Barack Obama #44

As many of you will notice the countdown to the end of the Bush era has expired. We are less then three hours away from our 44th president being sworn into office. I’ll keep this short but I think someone had to say something on this day. My loathing for the diplomacy of George W Bush is not secret to anyone who reads this site. Perhaps you are one of those 20% that still thinks he was doing a good job as president and you have seen this day more as the beginning of the Zombie Apocalypse then the rising of the sun on a new day.
Personally, I hope this is like Gandalf coming over the hill at the end of the Two Towers to save King Theoden’s people. I see some things in Barack that worry me. I’m not naive, but I’m hopeful that he can rise to the occasion for many reasons.
The first being we need him to. We are in two wars and our economy is in shambles. We need someone to lead this country and put a little hope back in the consumer’s mind.
The second reason I’m rooting for Barack is if he succeeds even mildly it will help race relations. Yesterday, we celebrated MLK day on inauguration eve we can say we have come a long way to making that dream a reality, but we can do even more. Imagine if Barack has the qualities of a transcendent president. The ability to lead like my favorite president FDR did?
That is my hope today. I hope he can unite. I’m not one to put much faith in religion but I am one to believe in people. Warren Buffett recently said this is our darkest time since World War II and we are facing an Economic Pearl Harbor, but he would not bet against the American people because we have a way of coming out on top. I hope Barack Obama is part of that success plan.
So I’m obviously very happy Bush is gone, but I’m looking at today as a day of hope. I wish Obama the best of luck because there are lot of people looking for a leader and he has the chance to be that person.

You don’t like Bushy? When did this happen?
By the way, I guess that there is a tradition where the current president leaves a letter in the oval office desk for the incoming president. (Bushy left a note in Obama’s new desk)
I’m wondering what it said….I have a guess:
GOOD F-ING LUCK….HE HE HE

Well i did not get to see or hear it but I read that evidently there were some folks wishing bush goodbye during the ceremony with a good ole jeer:
na-na-na-nah hey hey hey goodbye
Also chants of No More Bush broke out.
Now I’ll be honest that is probably not the time or place for that even if you think like i do that he may have been the worst president ever. Still there is a part of me that smiles that this happened to him even though i would not condone that behavior

Toppling the Bush statue did not make any sense but it fit the mash-up.

Today is definately a day to remember…millions of people hoping that one man, a man built up by the press to be the next coming of the messiah, will cure all of the nations or world’s troubles.
We’ll see how long the honeymoon lasts. 80% of what he’s promised to accomplish in office really isn’t feasible or possible. It will be interesting to see how the public responds to his failures and lack of change.
I’m rooting for him, though. Not because I believe in his policies, or because I’m desperately hoping for this whole race thing to play out well…I’m rooting for him because I love the USA. It’s the best place in the world to live. Although I wasn’t an Obama supporter, I’m a US supporter, and he’s leading the US so I’m on board.
I don’t expect much to change…especially not with the appointments he’s been making. I think he has the ability to lead this country, and I hope it’s in the right direction.
My biggest beef with him as of noon today is that he stands for something that I will NEVER, EVER believe in. His belief on one issue is completely insane, and for this I will always question his judgement. And in this same regard, his character will always be flawed in my eyes. What is this policy you ask? He’s a White Sox fan. F%#K THAT!
GO CUBS!

I want him to do well too but I am also a skeptic of his overly optimistic plans. All are fun to talk about but the reality of success is a completely different picture. I think the honeymoon will be over after around a year. If things do not get dramatically better after 2 years, I believe he will find himself in a public opinion 180 degree change.
