I have a little bit of a mini-vent to get out. I don’t make it to too many museum exhibits. However, when I go, I expect to see some pretty cool history. For example, when I headed over to the Atlanta Civic Center to see the King Tut Exibit I expected to actually see King Tut. After all, it is the King Tut Exhibit.
To my surprise, King Tut was no-where to be found. They did have a whole bunch of artifacts that actually did sit in his tomb with him. However, there were artifacts from all kinds of pharaohs and other tombs too. For 35 dollars I simply expected to see a mummy….and there just wasn’t one. Not ever one friggin mummy. How could the people putting on this exhibit have the balls to call this the King Tut Exhibit and not have King Tut there?
For my money, I had a better time checking out the collection of Ancient Egyptian and Nubian antiquities at Michael C. Carlos Museum. The exibit is located at Emory University in downtown Atlanta. You will see a mummy. In fact, the exhibit boasts having the oldest mummy in America. It’s also only a 7 dollar donation to get in (heck of alot better then 35) It also isn’t crowded….which is a big plus over the King Tut Exhibit.
