As any fan of the prolific Ryan Adams should know he likes to blog. On his entry today he drops the bomb that the music is over:
me- 34-a non smoker and happy, for the first time in my life.. i am excited to finish this wonderful time i have had with the cardinals and whatever new adventures may come after march. Atlanta will be my last venture with the band and i am grateful for the time we have had and maybe someday we will have more stories to tell together. i am however ready for quieter times as i think it is very evident i am struggling with some balance and hearing issues.
Say it ain’t so Ryan! Check out the entire entryto his blog he goes on at length about where he is at in life and some events leading up to this conclusion. He definitely leaves the door open to coming back at one point, but he seems pretty tired of the entire music scene now. My gut says music is such a big part of his life he won’t be able to stay away for long and this is a hiatus and not a farewell, but for someone who popped out three albums in a years time span at one point I have a feeling those days may be done for now.
It seems he has an issue with his hearing as well as perhaps his musical career causing him to lose someone he loved dearly. That coupled with other frustrations have pushed him over the boiling point.
That is the bad news, but as someone who has tickets to the Atlanta show already I have a feeling it is going to be one hell of a night! This will be my first full (last show in Atlanta was aborted after an hour) show and perhaps the last one I get to see.
Here’s hoping that Ryan takes some time to clear his mind and comes back when he feels comfortable and that these last shows this Winter are a rocking goodbye for now!
Here is Ryan and the Cardinals performing Two which seems appropriate based on his post:
