Disney was big but instead of remakes they just re-released them. I remember seeing many disney movies from the 60's in the theatre with my parents. To go even deeper, most of the Disney classic movies are based from ancient fairy tales that kids have been loving for generations. It is really cool that new stories that were developed during our childhood in a sense are becomine classis. Maybe someday our kids, kids, kids will be watching and playing with GI Joe. This is because I guess it's really hard to get audiences to buy into a "new" movie that is un-tested. It cost a lot more to market a new movie from scratch. Also, with all the remakes from movies in the 80's, they are definitely targeting you. We're older now, have more expendable income, and many children of the 80's have children of their own that they can get hooked on the newer versions. Damn marketing people...
