Rating: 4.3/5.0
The brilliance of this movie is Danny McBride’s portrayal of an inept Tae Kwon Do instructor, Fred Simmons. As an instructor he is on top of the world and clings onto his 1994 championship trophy. He is over weight, drives a ridiculously expensive sports car and bosses kids around like he is the king. The movie is at its best when Fred Simmons starts losing control of his self proclaimed perfect existence due to marital problems. He starts taking it out on his students and the comedy ensues. This is probably the best “comedy” I have seen in a while. I can see why some would compare it to Napoleon Dynamite since it is very much a character driven movie. For those of you who enjoy old women being kicked in the face and arrogant fat Tae Kwon Do instructors, you should go out and rent The Foot Fist Way tonight!
