Happy Anniversary, Hank Aaron!
How did the braves fans on the site miss this one? 34 years ago today, on April 8, 1974, an elder outfielder by the name of Hank Aaron launched an Al Downing pitch into the left-center field stands for a record breaking home run. Yes, it was on this day that Aaron broke the Babe’s career home run record, belting out number 715. It was the Braves’ home opener versus the Dodgers.
Congrats to Aaron!

Also, to add insult to injury to the Dodgers, 20 years later in 1994, Kent Merker no-hit the Dodgers.
But, at least the Dodgers were able to make some good history with this day as well, with Chan Ho Park making it into the 9th inning of the game, becoming the first Korean pitcher ever to pitch in the majors.
Merker went on to a lackluster career for the Braves, while Park continued to amaze baseball fans everywhere by continously giving up tons of runs to opponents!

Hats off to a true gamer Hank Aaron. I was listening to 790 the zone on the way to work today and Chris Demino is one of the host. He was the main reporter to interview Hammerin Hank after he broke the record and he shared some insight on this imporatnat day in baseball history.
Hank is and was a class act, and deserves all the respect he gets.
